Ready for Demolition

The asbestos inspection went according to plan. Yes, we have a minor problem but it is very minor. The red and black tiles on the floor, as well as the adhesive, all have asbestos. The good news is that I only need to cover the tiles up with new flooring.
The demolition permit is posted on the front window so we can start ripping out the guts of this place. My brother in law, Archie (the master plumber), is coming over tomorrow to show me how to remove the existing radiators.
Black Cat's family and I went to a nice place in New Market called "Congress Street Publick House". The food was good but the prices are high for this area. The prices are appropriate the DC metro area and the NY metro area, but are about 20% high for here. The wine selection was very good and priced reasonably.
It is good to know your competition.

Architect on board

I've finalized the arrangements with the architect today. Hopefully I'll have a set of plans in about 3-4 weeks. While I'm waiting for the plans I've got to get an asbestos inspection and a demolition permit. I should have the demolition finished by the time the plans arrive.

Now in Woodstock

I'm finally in Woodstock for the long haul. A little excited... a little lonely... a lot busy. I'm trying to make the place habitable right now. Our furniture arrived at the end of January but we've never had time to properly set it up. Now I've got the time. I just don't know where to put everything. Too much stuff.
I'm also starting to find the little things that you don't see until you've lived the place for a while. Aside from unpacking, I'm removing the tiles from around the tub. About a third of them are really loose with black mold underneath. The rest are very firmly in place. At 8:15 this evening I decided that I'll have to finish the tile removal project tomorrow.
I'm scheduled a meeting with an architect this Friday to review the layout that I've come up with.
More tomorrow...
